At long last I am excited to invite you to join the Illinois Coalition on Mental Health and Aging (ICMHA).
As some of you may be aware, our Coalition decided to merge with ICMHA to leverage all of the talent, expertise and resources across both groups. As a state-wide organization formed in 1996, ICMHA offers us the opportunity to expand our connections and further our efforts to increase the understanding of substance use and misuse among older adults. In fact, some of our members have already been ICMHA members for years. ICMHA recently adopted a three-year strategic plan that aims to refine and revitalize its mission, member engagement and influence. It is the perfect time for us to join them and integrate substance use into the future of ICMHA’s work.
Our organizational merger agreement included the opportunity for a substance use sub-group to exist within ICMHA so that our specialized area is guaranteed to not be lost within ICMHA’s broad behavioral health mission.
ICMHA is a fee-based organization. To welcome our members, ICMHA is offering a free trial membership to any ICSUA member who is new to ICMHA. Unfortunately the free trial membership will not apply to our members who are already ICMHA members. However, anyone who currently is not an ICMHA member can take the months of March through June to become familiar with ICMHA, then choose to join when their new fiscal year begins in July 2021. For your future planning, the current fees for membership are modest and outlined below:
$15.00 Consumer/Student $35.00 Professional (individual professionals/consultants who serve older adults $50.00 Organization (up to three professionals in one company/organization)
I truly hope you will consider joining me and others as we transition our work to ICMHA. The attached membership application can be emailed or mailed to ICMHA to activate your free trial membership.
This website will remain open through the end of this fiscal year, June 30, 2021.
It has been a true pleasure to serve the Illinois Coalition on Substance Use and Aging. I hope you will join me in celebrating this auspicious merger and join as soon as possible!
All the best, Nina
